You are welcome to become a member of the Sunderland Pianoforte Society by purchasing  a season subscription.

Member Benefits

  • Members receive free entry to all regular season concerts. In 2024-25 there will be six recitals, four on Tuesday evenings at 7.15pm and two on Saturday afternoons at 2 pm.
  • Members are also invited to attend General Meetings and have full voting rights.

If you are interested in becoming a member, or have any other enquiries about the Society, please contact the Chair David Pennycuick, who will forward your message to the appropriate committee member. (Click on his name to send David an email.)  However, if you are a pianist, please note that we are fully booked; we are sorry that we are unable to consider new pianists at present.  We regret also that we cannot respond to enquiries unrelated to the Society.

Who we are

The Sunderland Pianoforte Society (SPS) is a registered charity. Our income derives from ticket sales, individual donations and occasional grants – we receive no ongoing revenue.

The SPS Committee is the data controller. This means that it determines what data is collected, how it is processed and for what purpose.

What information do we collect?

We retain the information you give us when you become a member of SPS.

We retain information given to us by the pianists whom we engage to give recitals.

We retain information given to us when you ask to be on our mailing list.

How do we use your personal data?

We use it to:

  • administer membership records
  • maintain our accounts, including in relation to Gift Aid
  • inform you of the activities offered by SPS
  • contact you if there are changes to our programme
  • occasionally undertake customer research to help us improve our service
  • ensure we know how you prefer to be contacted

Sharing your personal data

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be shared with third parties without your agreement.

How long do we keep your personal data?

A member’s personal information is retained until the member asks for it to be removed. Personal information of non-members on the mailing list is kept for three years.

How do we keep your data safe?

Your data is held securely and access to it is confined to members of the SPS Committee and is strictly controlled.

Your rights regarding your personal data

You have the following rights related to your personal data:

The right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

The right to request the SPS Committee to correct inaccuracies or information which is out of date.

The right to request your personal data be erased when the SPS Committee no longer needs to retain it.

The right to request that we stop processing your personal data.

The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
